PocketBook Basic Lux 3 — Modern "throwback"
PocketBook is now selling the newest in their Basic Lux line, the Basic Lux 3. The Basic Lux line uses a 212 dpi Carta eInk screen and has no touch layer (uses buttons instead). It also has a microSD slot. So, in a sense, it's a "throwback" to earlier eReaders. But the Touch Lux 3 is modern in the following ways.
It has 8 GBs of storage (like the Basic Lux 2), has a dual-core, 1 Ghz CPU (upgraded from single core), has a SMARTLight screen (warm light, upgraded from the Basic Lux 2's white light only) and has 512 MB of RAM instead of 256 MB). And it costs a $100 (I think the Basic Lux 2 was originally $90). So for those who are looking for a simple, "throwback" eReader without a touchscreen (which should make its screen a little sharper) and a microSD slot, this doesn't look like a bad deal. Add in the the modern features, "warm" light and a dual-core CPU, ability to download ePubs from .ascm files, DropBox and the PocketBook Cloud integration and the Send-to-PocketBook feature, this seems to be much better deal than the Kobo Nia or Kindle Basic. Grooves ships to the U.S. for free and Good-e-Reader sells these as well. https://pocketbook.ch/en-ch/catalog/...basic-lux-3-ch Last edited by rcentros; 02-04-2022 at 07:51 PM. Reason: Added link. |
