Rss Feeds to .fb2 (and then to .lrf and etc. ;) )

"Good News" - electronic newspapers.

http://www.good-news.com.ua

PS: It has got an English UI! Please do not worry if you don't speak russian.
(you can worry if you don't speak both english and russian )

App is actively developing, gaining new features, etc. We write this app for ourselfs also, and use it very often, so we try to make it nice and handy. Would be nice to get your feedback.

Thanks!

If you prefer to get news in .lrf format, that's how this can be done:

1. First you need to download fb2lrf converter, and unzip it to some folder, for example D:\fb2lrf_cm
Link to converter: http://www.msh-tools.com/ebook/fb2lrf.html

2. Open "GoodNews" -> main menu -> Tools -> Options -> Downloads tab -> check "Run command after running newspaper" checkbox.

2.1 In command textbox we write a path to script file, for example D:\fb2lrf_cm\fb2tolrf.bat

2.2 In parameters textbox we write {0}

2.3 In that .bat file we write: fb2lrf -r %1

2.4 In folder textbox set path to converter folder: D:\fb2lrf_cm

That is it! From now on all news you get will be automatically converted to .lrf format.

Thumbs up

Thanks a lot Eugene!

I've been looking for something like this for some time. Very useful app, with a nice and intuitive GUI.

A bug: I've experienced some problems with the images, sometimes the layout is a bit messed up and the footers appear mingled with the news items' text.

Please keep us informed of any changes or updates

Thanks again for sharing!

Edited. An example of a feed that generates the issue I described:

Thanks Eugene. I'd like to try it out.
I'm currently using Calibre. It can process rss feeds correctly, but it has very limited functions.

After a quick test, I have a few doubts:
- The first page is always blank? Why?
- Can I make the section feeds as links on the first page? It is good for grouping the news. This is the one feature I like in Calibre (http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/)
For example: With Calibre, the first page will show:

Newspaper Title [Date]
* Section Title 1 (with link to Feed 1)
* Section Title 2 (with link to Feed 2)
* Section Title 3 (with link to Feed 3)

This arrangement would be easier to navigate to certain Section, don't you think so?
