Yes, I can't see the point. On my Boyue Likebook Mars, I can turn the Google blob on/off and also directly install any APK from any website via download on the native web browser without having to enable a hidden developer mode. I wish all Android phones & tablets had that. But OTOH I've never needed to "root" any of my android devices as repeated tap on suitable system info enables developer mode and then you can add any APK and also use PC tools (at least Windows and Linux) to remove packages that can be uninstalled on the phone/tablet, if you know real name. There is a Playstore app to display real filenames.

Are you able to get back into the Bootloader for flashing again?
Yes - i tried many times with the same effect. Black screen after load.

Hi,

had the same problem as you and was able to successfully flash. I changed three things at once so i don't know what helped in the end but I

1. added a fresh formatted FAT32 SD-Card (didn't use one before and apparently the SoC needs one for flashing?)
2. Gone from AndroidTool 2.3 to RKDevTool 2.86 (https://dl.radxa.com/tools/windows/R...ease_v2.86.zip)
3. Do EraseFlash before update

hope that helps,

Best Benedikt

Many thanks Benedikt
It worked after doing point 2 and 3 and with this software AndroidTool 2.3 to RKDevTool 2.86.

I only notice that my touch screen need calibrations. With stylus pen it's ok but when i touch by my fingers i saw offset. Where I can find this calibration ?

Hi, I recently started to encounter issues with byreader in my likebook Mimas. I can't open my annotations for some ebooks (crashes to homepage when I try to access them) but it works for other ebooks. Rebooting doesn't help. Does anyone know how I can resolve this? I would like to at least know how I can access my annotations for export or something... TIA!

Better late than never.
I've had something like this after updating firmware from 2.x.x to 3.x.x. Same happened to regular notes. Some could be accessed, some crashed. Notes are most unreliable part of Boyue firmware as it seemed to me. Every time new firmware for Mimas was released it introduced more bugs than fixes for notes. Sadly, poor memory management hasn't been fixed at all.

TL;DR there're 2 ways:
1) Backup filesystem structure (i.e. books+notes and other stuff as it's being stored on your book). Then do factory reset. Put all stuff from your backup back to your Mimas and try to open your notes
2) Simply search for your notes and convert those into something. They're just bunch of PNG files coupled via XML file. And never ever try to rely on notes on Mimas
3) Plot twist. 3rd option. Probably you're using external memory SD card instead of internal memory. Then you can backup stuff from your SD card. Format card, put stuff back on your card and try notes again. It might be faulty SD card as well.

Thanks for the tips! I actually found a workaround to the issue that I am encountering. I just went into the e-books that had the problem and added some text comments. This stopped the crashing when I try to access the notes later.

Is there a replacement pen that I get for the Mimas? One that does not need replacement nibs...

Long time ago i tried my Mimas with Samsung Galaxy Tab's pen and it worked (but it's too small so won't do for long time writing, i guess).
Try to google something like "Wacom samsung stylus" or about "samsung s pen". They might be compatible as well. And if i remember correctly people at some forum discussed which pen/stylus work with Likebook and Onyx readers:I have Wacom Intuos S tablet - its pen didn't work with Mimas. And, probably, i tried pen from Huion tablet (Huion Kamvas 13, if to be exactly) which didn't work with Mimas too. So be careful

As for note taking - i sold my Mimas this summer (it served me for good 5 years and will be part of my nostalgia) and bought iPad Air 5 + Apple Pencil 2. Already helped me alot during onboarding at new job. Writing feels different, but can't say it's worse. Just different and still satisfying. Anyway, can't read books/journals for too long on it and definitely will get e-ink reader from Onyx or Meebook again later.

How much did you ask for it ? I'm thinking in doing something similar but this thing is so niche that I'm not sure if it's even possible to sell it for what it's worth
