The documentation says you are correct
![]() I have no KFX, as I have a K4NT. 99% of my purchases have been AZW download and transfer by USB. My willingness to purchase their books, ended a few days ago. ![]() |

Thanks - seems like the DRM check is for epubs only. It didn't detect the DRM in a test AZW3 file I tried (it worked for an epub but I only have a tiny number of DRM'd epub books).
But - I should have tried this before - the Linux "file" command does it for azw3: > file book.azw3 > book.azw3: Mobipocket E-book "Book Title", 1220485 bytes uncompressed, version 8, codepage 65001, encrypted (type 2) ... so I can easily run this for everything on my computer. Hopefully it works for old .mobi files as well. Thanks again |

OK, the good news is that I have successful added my first book from the Paperwhite and converted it to epub, so the DeDRM seems to be working ... assuming this book has it. Some residual odd bits.
When I first go to the device, new books have mostly unknown authors and many of the titles contain mobi-asin. This means that when I am done with the processing, I have to go to the device again and do the match with the library. Ugh. This process is ending me up with a black and white cover. There is a full color low resolution cover from Open Library, but ugh. Is there a way to end up with full color, full resolution on the epub especially? What is the status of Calibre paying attention to Kindle Collections? Years and years ago I remember them being supported and then support going away. One of the current anomalies is that at some point I added a Short Stories collection on the Paperwhite, but on Amazon Digital Content there is a collection with no name. Not a Calibre issue, of course, but support could be useful. |
