I checked the various clocks in the house and only one of them does not automagically update for the time switch. Heck, even the stove does so. I guess I will have to give the rice cooker and the car some TLC on Sunday.

I wonder what would happen if everyone just ignored DST and started showing up for work or school at the wrong time.

Not that much. We used to have some staff and students show up early after the fall change and late after the spring change. Though it's harder to claim ignorance these days when most of your devices will automatically change.

But why do you love it? I do think saying that everybody "hates" it is probably an overstatement; I know folks hate having to do the fall back, yadda, stuff for a day or so but it's a relatively minor change in that arena. Hitch |

That hour of daylight in spring and summer. I'm a total night-owl by nature and I love those long, long summer evenings here, when it's light outside until nearly midnight. In winter it doesn't matter, because it's dark by 3 or 4 p.m. anyway.

I love DST. The change is my least favorite day of the year.
First I'll note that DST/ST is close to a 2/3 to 1/3 split on the year, since DST runs from the middle of March to the beginning of November, i.e., nearly eight months (the exact length depends on the dates of the Sundays). People here, with few exceptions, love DST. We're in the northeastern part of the time zone, so our days skew early at best. Longer afternoons, light in the evening, these are conducive to being outside and indulging in leisure activities. |

DST is seven months here - from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. Never in the middle of March or in November.
I didn't even know there are different transition times in different countries. |
