It's probably Qt. But it sounds like it may be a case of the newer version of Qt testing the limits of your video hardware/driver (especially since it worked ok previously) on Windows. As mentioned earlier in this thread, try disabling webengine's hardware acceleration in Sigil's preferences (on Windows).

And I had often noticed that I could not select multiple files in the Book Browser for renaming but I just ignored that inconvenience and never thought more about it. |

Looks like the driver update fixed it. |

Good deal. Happy to hear it!
When dealing with visual issues/artifacts in Qt programs, I've found that updating video drivers (where possible) is always a good first step. |

I'm mentally prepared to risk a build of 2.3.0 on my linux box. Where is the correct place to collect the source code - on Kevin's github page below the Windows 2.3 file where the Source code(zip) downloads with what looks like an inappropriate name ? :
BuildSigilOnMac-for_sigil_1.0.0.zip Or where should I look? |

Just go to https://github.com/Sigil-Ebook/Sigil and click on the green Code button. There'll be a "download zip" link on the drop-down.
That source archive will already have a few fixes since we released the Windows and Mac betas, but that's alright. |

And I can confirm that a single tap on a file in BookBrowser opens it in a new tab in Code View just like it always has done in my linux Sigil. And the problem of selecting multiple files in Book Browser remains entire - but not a real problem. Thanks, DiapDealer. |

The single click issue is probably caused by your Window or File Manager settings? What Linux Desktop and File and Window Manager are you using?
The design of Sigil is to single-click to select/highlight and double-click to launch or open in CodeView. How on earth can you multiselect or even select and right click on things in BookBrowser without launching it? IMHO, using single click to launch or edit leads to a very limited gui. I thought KDE even moved its default back to double-click because it broke so many program's gui? Kevin Last edited by KevinH; 07-21-2024 at 04:12 PM. |

KDE did change to a double-click default. But I'm guessing user prefs from before that probably remained constant. @philja can hopefully confirm a single-click option that's enabled in their DE's settings.
And if it IS a single-click-to-open feature that's been enabled, they should be able to select multiple files by holding down Ctrl while clicking. Last edited by DiapDealer; 07-21-2024 at 05:08 PM. |

But you're right in that I do have a single click option selected in the OS settings. I've always found that to be most useful (saves energy ). In my linux box, the setting is in Workspace > General Behaviour where I selected 'Clicking files or folders opens them'. I tried selecting the alternative, 'Clicking files or folders selects them' and this restores Sigil's behaviour to your standard and enables me to select multiple files. [edit] And no, DiapDealer, in the 'single click opens' behaviour of my linux box, neither Shift+click nor Ctrl+click permits multiple file selection in Sigil. But in Dolphin (my linux file manager) Shift+click permits multiple adjacent file selection and Ctrl+click permits multiple file selection for non-adjacent files while still allowing single click to open a file. But in my life, this has rarely proved a problem inside Sigil so I think I'll stick with my system using a single click - knowing that if I have a real requirement to select multiple files inside Sigil, I can always reverse this behaviour.
