The high temperature today was 33°F. It started snowing this evening, then alternated back and forth with sleet before finally settling down to freezing rain. Just last night the forecast was for 4 inches of snow; this morning the forecast was for 2 inches of snow. By the time it started the forecast was for 1 inch. But one inch of a snow, sleet and ice mix will still be like shoveling wet cement off the driveway, tomorrow.

It didn't get quite as warm or sunny as I had hoped, so the ice was still very solid, very heavy, and securely frozen to the pavement. My car is out of the driveway and parked at the top of the hill -- I parked up there before the snow started -- but my wife decided to take her chances and her car is still at the bottom of the driveway. I managed to get some of the ice broken up and pushed out of the way.
The high temperature today briefly hit 36°F and it was very cloudy. The temperature has been falling and should bottom out in the teens. More snow is predicted for Tuesday night through Thursday, and again Saturday and Sunday. Sleet and freezing rain are possible throughout. |

Another gray and windy day. Currently it's 2℃ and it won't get much warmer. From mid afternoon it's going to get rainy, which will continue for the next couple of days.
I had hoped to go for a longer walk on Wednesday, when it was predicted to rain during the early hours but would dry up by 9 am. But now it'll be another rainy day it's predicted. So my walk will have to wait until Thursday after my appointment to get a new passport. |

I was on the verge of packing away my "polar vortex proof" parka - after days in the low 70's F, but it's still February - and I wore it today to dash to the store to resupply my critter food - 30's F, damp, sleet/snow on the way, bone chilling cold - gotta keep my squirrels & rabbits & birds (& deer) fed

The high temperature for the day was 34°F and it was mostly cloudy with no real breeze. We're expecting snow tonight -- not sleet or freezing rain -- but most of the snow is supposed to pass south of us and we're only expecting an inch or two. Then, tomorrow night, we're expecting snow changing over to sleet on Thursday morning.
Friday, Valentine's Day, should be sunny and mild. Then, this weekend we're supposed to get snow changing over to rain for both Saturday and Sunday. I have no idea what next week will bring, but I have my fingers crossed. |
