Nope as in it doesn't allow for use of the vocabulary builder or nope as in nobody can confirm if that is the case? Thanks

Both actually. Mobileread also has policies about "unregisterable Kindles", so limited support here.

Thanks man, I don't actually own a kindle I'm just trying to find out if I can do what I need to do with it before I waste my money. It seems that without registration my 'paperwhite' would be more of a 'paperweight'

Looks like jailbreaking + koreader is the only way for me to actually be able to use the device how I want to use it and not how bezos tells me to use it

I have a brand new Kindle PW5 SE running 5.15.1.1. It's just arrived so I haven't connected it to WiFi (trying to avoid OTA updates that would prevent me from jailbreaking) and haven't registered it yet to my Amazon account.

When jailbreaking this device...
  1. Should I register the device before attempting to jailbreak it?
  2. Should I manually update the FW to 5.16.2.1.1 prior to attempting to jailbreak it?
  3. If I should update the FW, should the FW be updated before registering? or after?

I appreciate any assistance in answering these questions.

I made an error in one of the steps so thought will redo the process. I did the factory reset, set up account, wifi etc, however it feels like this "part jailbreak" is still present, despite doing full reset. The kindle feedback document is showing in library which I believe is part of jb. So i went into the demo mode and resold the device (then set up account, wifi etc) but the document is still there. How to wipe the Kindle entirely so there is absolutely nothing there?

It's Kindle Voyage, 5.13.6

Unless I'm wrong and Kindle feedback doc is not part of jb...

Download the 5.13.6 firmware for Kindle Voyage from Amazon website, paste it in your Kindle main drive and then eject and unplug the device and go the kindle setting and restart the kindle to "update" it with the "new" firmware. This will wipe it entirely, but to be on the safe side, after the restart, "reset" it again one more time.

1. Better not to register it as you may inadvertently update it to FWs which are not jailbreakable while being online.
2. Yes, it is advisable to do this.
3. Before registering. Then you can jailbreak and finally register.

Can anyone help me how to instead koreader? I've successfully jailbroken my Kindle paperwhite signature edition 2021 version but don't know how to install ko reader

I downloaded koreader from github and unzipped and moved to kindle root folder but when I launch kual and click on koreader nothing is happening

It appears that I'm doing everything in the same order, but I'm not sure if it's correct.
Perhaps this is somewhat off-topic, but...
The issue is that I have KUAL installed on my PW5, but it doesn't seem to be able to launch anything. I've tried to start CoolReader or KOReader, but neither of them appears to be rendering properly. With KOReader, I see the message "Starting KOReader..." and then the page re-renders, and I'm back on the Kindle homepage.

Found this log:
