Thanks for the fantastic plug-in. Been using it for years.
I would like to make one possible "feature". Sometimes the author/title isn't necessarily located on the site. In those instances I would love to have the generated link point to the author's page. It doesn't pass the link properly because the extension is index.html vs. the default index.htm. I would be nice to a way to have the the full link. Example: L T Ryan Decended In Blood stored id: ff:r/lt-ryan/descended-in-blood generated page address: https://www.fantasticfiction.com/r/l...d-in-blood.htm L T Ryan's author page manual link: ff:r/lt-ryan/index generated page address: https://www.fantasticfiction.com/r/lt-ryan/index.htm correct page address: https://www.fantasticfiction.com/r/lt-ryan/index.html I think if we stored the links as follows this would allow us to have direct a direct link to the author's page. I hope this explains what I mean. Thanks! gstock97 |

Hello. Love this plugin. But ever since I installed it, the publication date reverts to Jan 1 of the year of publication. For example, if the book was published June 6, 2024, the publication date reverts to Jan 1, 2024. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there some Calibre setting that is creating this issue? I should mention I have the Goodreads plugin by Drake as well as the default Amazon plugin for meta data installed. Could there be a conflict between these?

Fantastic Fiction doesnt have the full metadata available on the web page, it only has the year portion - in parentheses after the title. So the plugin does the best it can by assuming 1 Jan of that year.
If you hence don't want that metadata as you have better sources for it then just untick it from the options for that plugin. |

I have a newly-added book with these details:
Title: Murder at the Bookstore Author: Sue Minix Series: undefined Identifiers: kobo:murder-at-the-bookstore-the-bookstore-mystery-series-1 If I manually search via title on FF, the book is result #14. However, other book in the same series have higher results in the list and FF consistently returns a different book in the same series. Spoiler:
Is there anything to be done about this? |

Ive just taken a quick look at this now. There are two issues here - the first is that Fantastic Fiction isn't ordering their search result matches very well, and the second is that the matching login in this plugin is very weak and needs some TLC. It is stopping after it's first (tenouous) match of "murder" against "murderous" and not even looking at the rest of the search results.
New version shortly... Last edited by kiwidude; 08-20-2024 at 02:25 AM. |
