Calibre often crashes in macOS

I have this Python error:

This is very surprising, as I have python3 installed:

***@*** MacOS % python3 --version
Python 3.9.6

No log.

That indicates your calibre install is corrupted, re-install.

I already did that dozens of times: download from the website, copy-paste etc.

However, I paste the app in a subfolder of /Applications directory:

/Applications/_Multimédia/eBooks

I just tried on the parent folder /Applications... and it launches. Which is not the case in the subdirectory /Applications/_Multimédia/eBooks.
Same goes for the calibre-debug -g command.

I saw that the version 7.16 has been published today.
I did the test with version 7.16.
Again, it doesn't run on the subfolder.

It seems that Calibre doesn't like French characters in the path...

I just saw that v7.17 states in the release notes "Update the version of the Qt toolkit bundled with calibre to the latest available, fixing some crashes on macOS related to accessibility tools". In the Resources bundle, it looks like it's using Qt 6.7.2.

So I'll certainly try this out, see how it goes, and report back. Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, still the same issue with French characters in the path

Well, I've been trying it for the last week, and I'm happy to report -- nary a crash!!

I think the Qt update really fixed it. Thank you again!
