Using Calibre to convert to epub (including from epub) almost always fixes any problems I have with an ebook.
I used to use KOReader. Now I mostly read ePub as RMSDK it renders better then KePub using Readium. You can get KePub to look better then it does by default, but that requires patching and adding an option to the config fie.

One other thing, hyphenation out of the box is rather poor. If you go to the Better Hyphenation thread, you can download a an English Hyphenation dictionary that works better, It has to be installed after every firmware update.

Anther thing you may want is a really good font you can side load. You put the fonts in the fonts directory in the root. The font is ChareInk6SP. It's a very good font with kerning, ligatures, and a smaller space. It looks very good on the Libra 2. You don't need the weighted version as you can up the weight from the Aa menu.

On my Nexus 7, I'm currently using Google Play reader with Meriweather font at 163%, 100% spacing and left justification. It's 19 lines to the screen. It's large enough that I have no trouble reading it, but not so large that there's too little content per page. I don't believe it hyphenates the right edge of lines.

In my experience, left justified text will not hyphenate unless you have a word that is so long that you would have a line that was extremely short unless it was hyphenated. So a sentence such as:
Quote:
He was suffering from pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis and pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism at the time of his demise.

Random trivia: Left justified text is widely regarded as easier to read, including by groups ranging from the World Wide Web Consortium to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

That's very subjective. I read only justified text on my ereaders (not left-aligned). For me it's far easier to focus on than left-aligned text.

Computer screens are a different matter - they're generally much larger and left-aligned text is easier to read there.

Neither of those are proper experts on reading. Partly it's what you are used to in a novel. See also arguments about serif vs sans text.

But you can chose with ebooks. Paper novels are almost exclusively fully justified.

Left justified is said to be easier to read if you have dyslexia.

As for left vs full, I prefer full with hyphenation.

If you prefer left, you're best to edit the CSS and change the alignment to left. If you use the justification setting in the Aa menu and set it to left, centered text will also be left and no longer centered.

Not to get too far off topic, but the SEC commissioned experts on the issue rather than relying on their own judgment. It was part of their Plain English initiative to make disclosure documents easier for people to read.

No doubt other experts and other surveys reached other conclusions. Different people have different preferences.

Kind of curious as to why the SEC commissioned "experts" to study something that's not really in their wheelhouse. I can't find the study, so I don't know exactly what the parameters were but, just guessing, it would seem that they would be more interested in text on computer screens than eBooks.

Do you have a link?

As for my view, ragged text on the right side of an eBook's screen doesn't work better for me, especially if the text is relatively large and the lengths of sentences vary widely. I can read ragged right text, but I prefer not to — at least not in eBooks. Ragged right is fairly common in web pages, but the lines are often much longer, so it's not really a one to one comparison.

EDIT: I re-read your last post and see now why the SEC would be involved. I'll see if I can find the study with the hints you give in your post (Plain English Initiative).

EDIT 2: I think I may have found the reference you're speaking about. But I'm guessing this is for an 8.5" x 11" page, with one column and 12 point text. In that format you will see gaps in the sentences if "justified," especially if it's a legal document using mono-spaced characters. A well formatted eBook, on the other hand, that's truly justified with a good font and reasonable hyphenation will have very few noticeable gaps.

But if I'm missing something here, let me know.
