FBReader Now Supports DRM EPUBs

Came across this in my news feed and struck me as being possibly interesting to some. However not really knowing much about these things, it may not be of any value.

One note is that the DRM referred to is the Readium LCP DRM and not the more popular in North America Adobe ADEPT DRM.

I've never encountered that DRM version.

University of Chicago Press uses it as an alternative to Adobe ADEPT DRM. Otherwise, most of the comments I've seen on it have been from Europe mostly France.

For more information on LCP vs ADEPT, you can check Adobe ADEPT DRM vs Readium LCP DRM. Since Readium LCP is mostly opensource, you can also dig into the source code if that's of interest to you.

FYI it's increasing in usage in Sweden. Mostly for non-Swedish ebooks for sale. (Swedish books typically use watermarks.)

Adobe DRM is still in majority, but LCP is getting large enough to become annoying for Kobo users.

Thanks for the information about FBReader and LCP, @Brianrh. The German "Onleihe" (a system for digital library lending) uses LCP. (But I could not get it to work with FBReader yet.)

I feel it worth noting here that DeDRM (and NoDRM's fork) no longer supports removal of Readium.
