I don't see this behaviour myself, and it is impossible to guess if you don't actually include log file output, calibre version and do some basic testing yourself - does it happen for all books, is whether they currently have an ISBN relevant, is it epubs or PDFs or both etc.
I upgraded again and same problem.
My current Calibre version 7.17.0
I tried on a book and I get this (some values changed):

I only just discovered this plug-in thanks to a mention in the goodreads metadata thread. This makes metadata downloading a lot less frustrating. Thanks!

Sometimes, yes. But also nearly impossible to get goodreads to return the correct version. This has improved that a lot.
