I'm guessing Windows 11 doesn't have the C library dependency you can download from the link (in an earlier post). I definitely know that I was able to install the Nook App in Windows 11 but I did install the libraries that you can download at the same link.

I didn't know that. That might be a good reason to keep using Calibre 6.x — or can this feature be disabled?

But better to run Quality Check to be sure, yes.
What's Quality Check? Something that can be run in Linux?

For what it may be worth, if you download the VCLibs Redistributable Packages, open the downloaded .zip file and extract and install the Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00_12.0.21005.1_x86__8wekyb3d 8bbwe.appx package, that is the one needed to install the Nook app package downloaded from the Adguard supplied link (it's an x86 package so needs the VC x86 library installed).

I tested this on a fresh Windows 11 install in a virtual machine.

Quality Check is a calibre plugin. One of it's ePub options is to check for DRM.

I'll look into that. Thank you.

So does it matter which one I download first?

It won't matter which you download first, but you'll need to install the library file before the Nook App (which won't install if the library dependency is not met).

2. Copy and paste the link the Microsoft store used for the Nook app in the search field and click the check mark:
https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9wzdncrfj33h

3. There should be a list of files. You want the one named:
BarnesNoble.Nook_1.11.0.4_x86__ahnzqzva31enc.appx

It's 50.94 MB in size. I right clicked on the link, then "save link as" to save a copy to my hard drive.

4. Double-click on the file to install. (Scan the file with your security software and/or upload it to VirusTotal if you're at all concerned about the source. Everything was clean when I did this in February.)

5. Open the Nook app. Log into your B&N account and download your books to your library.

6. To find the epubs on your computer, make sure hidden files are shown in Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\"YourUsername"\App Data\Local\Packages\BarnesNoble.Nook_ahnzqzva31enc \LocalState

The epub files will have random numbers for the names.

7. If the files are DRM-protected, you should be able to drop them in Calibre with the proper plugins and free them. I'm not too savvy in that department, but others should be able to point you in the right direction if you have any questions there.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
Hello, I was able to install the x64 and x86 Visual C++ packages (well, the x86 one intially gave me an error about there being additional data, or something? but then the x64 one installed fine and I tried installing x86 again and it seemed to install fine then) and the Nook app via these instructions on W11, but when I went to download book(s), it gives me an error saying "A connection to the internet is not available. Please check your network connection and try again" despite the fact that I have a connection and the Nook app can obviously use it since it shows books, including the sample(s) I have I'm trying to download in the user interface and it let me sign in.

Has anybody else had this issue?
