Further testing show abl was indeed gimped as you said, boot also return an unknown command error. Downgrade isn't possible as the full firmware doesn't contain abl.img. The only hope for me is perhap extracting the old abl.img from abl_a by edl

Yeah, if the commands were working they should progress until they say that there is no partition named "fishheads".

Before I dive into edl, I have some question to ask:

1. Is this the correct firehose for scubapiiot: prog_firehose_Qcm2290_ddr.elf?

2. How to exit from edl mode?

If you got the Firehose loader to load:

edl /lpoke5.bin
edl -- do useful things
edl /z
If not, a 10 second power button press resets.
