The sale on Discworld eBooks is still going on. So if you live outside the US, head on over to Kobo.com and take a trip to the US to purchase these eBooks.

The Master of Whitestorm by Janny Wurts is £0.99 at Amazon UK today. I have bought it at Kobo for £5.21 (VIP price), and submitted a price match form which I found here:https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/p/pricematch-about

I've already received an acknowledgement of the form submission. We'll see how it goes!

I've never had a price match request denied, and I use it a lot. I track books on Amazon until they reach a good price, and then buy from Kobo and get a refund via the price match guarantee.

I'm surprised Kobo don't make more of the price match. If I'd really understood it, i'd have switched years ago!

Blackheart Man by Nalo Hopkinson is $2 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Was on my wishlist. One of the best books of last year.
Quote:
The magical island of Chynchin is facing conquerors from abroad and something sinister from within in this entrancing fantasy from the Grand Master Award–winning author Nalo Hopkinson.

Veycosi, in training as a griot (an historian and musician), hopes to sail off to examine the rare Alamat Book of Light and thus secure a spot for himself on Chynchin’s Colloquium of scholars. However, unexpected events prevent that from happening. Fifteen Ymisen galleons arrive in the harbor to force a trade agreement on Chynchin. Veycosi tries to help, hoping to prove himself with a bold move, but quickly finds himself in way over his head.

Bad turns to worse when malign forces start stirring. Pickens (children) are disappearing and an ancient invading army, long frozen into piche (tar) statues by island witches is stirring to life—led by the fearsome demon known as the Blackheart Man. Veycosi has problems in his polyamorous personal life, too. How much trouble can a poor student take? Or cause all by himself as the line between myth and history blends in this delightfully sly tale by one of greatest novelists.

My concern is if they don't price match because sale is over then I've greatly overpaid.
Today there is a book on Amazon for 1.99 but Kobo is 7.99. It's too late in the day to try for the price match with offices closed. I'm not willing to take that risk.

Can you attach a screenshot in the pricematch form? Been a while since I did one, but I've never once had an issue. And I used to do it a fair amount.

I don't think there is a spot for one in the request form but I put a note that I have a screenshot when filling out the form. I've only been asked for the screenshot once when I was asking Kobo to price match a 1 day sale on Amazon. I had the screenshot and there were no issues with getting the refund. That one time is the only time I was asked for it. The one other time I requested a price match on a 1 day sale, I think they looked at the "I've got a screenshot" and decided just to process the refund.

No, there isn't. I just looked.

Also, for those in the US we aren't credited the sales tax after the price match.

Screenshots (and web pages in general) are trivial to forge so I don't understand why it's evidence of anything.

Rose/House by Arkady Martine is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Locked-room murder mystery novella. I read it. It's OK.
Quote:
“I’m a piece of architecture, Detective. How should I know how humans are like to die?”

All of Basit Deniau’s houses were haunted. Rose House, his final architectural triumph built in the remote Mojave desert, was perhaps the most.

A house embedded with an artificial intelligence is a common thing. But a house that is an artificial intelligence, infused in every crevice and corner with a thinking creature that is not human? That is something else altogether. That is Rose House.

When Detective Maritza Smith gets a call from Rose House, she’s shocked to learn that there is a dead body behind its sealed-up door. Everybody in town knows it’s haunted. But Basit died more than a year ago, and everybody also knows that only his former protege, Dr. Selene Gisil, is permitted inside. But Selene wasn’t in the country when Rose House called in the death. Who is the dead body? How did they get in? And who—or what—killed them?

The answers lie within the labyrinthine halls of Rose House. But even if Martiza can get inside, there is no guarantee she will ever be able to leave ...
