The Christie I posted was the ePub version cleaned up. So yes, it did look better and all sections where multiple sections were put together were split. It was a better copy then on PG. But as it's not allowed, everyone will have to make their own edits.
It is a shame that MR is no longer in the US because there are a lot of good books on PG that could be posted if so. |

However since I seem to be unable to stop typing, the EU limits seem to be life+70 which mirrors the US limits. Of course when we get to items that were copyrighted when copyrights were shorter and/or needed renewal and entered the public domain, you can get into some very messy situations especially when attempts are made to have items that have entered the public domain put back into copyright. |

The US is still in the era where there are books older than life +70 still in copyright and books younger than life +70 already in public domain.

Indeed, like the Agatha Christie JSWolf mentions. Christie died in 1976 so won't be PD until 2047 in most of the western world, but some of her early books are now PD in the US because they are more than 95 years old.
And Conan is out of copyright everywhere except the US, where some later stories are still protected. I think there's another wrinkle where if something is out-of-copyright in its country of origin, it is out of copyright everywhere, but that doesn't help with the above examples. |
