Solaris are having a sale, until Feb. 17. Announcement on Bluesky with some of the titles
The regular sale page includes Rebellion stuff, which is less useful, so here's the Solaris page sorted by lowest price:
https://rebellionpublishing.com/impr...?orderby=price

I think almost everything they have is on sale. I think it's a bug because paperbacks and hardbacks are also $1, including ebooks of individual items AND the bundles they're in.

EDIT: The bug is fixed.

I'm getting Interstellar Megachef, and some older stuff.

I recently finished Mickey7 by Edward Ashton and it's very good. Antimatter Blues is the next book in the series and it's also on sale.

The "everything on sale" is a bug. They are fixing it, so hurry up if you're interested.
EDIT: Fixed now.

I would describe it as good, not very good. But it's worth a $1, and gets you ready for the film.

I enjoyed it and what the author was saying. The sequel, much less so (not enough new to say).

The 3 books in the Last Policeman Trilogy by Ben E. Winters are currently on sale for $1.99 each at Amazon and Kobo.

The titles are:
The Last Policeman - Winner of the 2013 Edgar Award for Best Paperback Original
Countdown City - Winner of the 2013 Philip K. Dick Award
World of Trouble - Finalist for the 2015 Edgar Award for Best Paperback Original

Note: Although these can be considered "mysteries" in the broadest sense, the apocalyptic setting—i.e. the months preceding a massive asteroid's impact on Earth—will appeal more to SF readers.

A Fine and Private Place by Peter S. Beagle is $2 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
His first published novel.
Quote:
This classic ghost story from the author of The Last Unicorn follows Jonathan who’s been living in a cemetery with a raven as his only friend amongst the newly dead until he discovers a pair of ghostly lovers bearing an extraordinary gift—the final chance for his own happiness.

For nineteen years, Jonathan Rebeck has hidden from the world within the confines of a Bronx’s cemetery, making an abandoned mausoleum his secret home. He speaks with the newly dead as they pass from life to wherever spirits finally go, providing them with comfort, an understanding ear, and even the occasional game of chess.

But Mr. Rebeck’s reclusive life is disrupted. An impossible love has blossomed between two ghosts at Yorkchester Cemetery. Helped along by a cynical, talking raven and a mysterious security guard, these four souls must learn the true difference between life and death and make choices that really are forever.

Told with an elegiac wisdom and beauty, Peter S. Beagle’s first novel is, “One of literature’s most beautiful works about ghostly times and places...told with wit, charm, and a sense of individuality” (The New York Times Book Review).

Gone from having read nothing by this author at the beginning of last year to having picked up nearly all of his works (on sale, no less). If we can just get Tamsin to drop below five bucks, I'll be in business.

I got Tamsin in December 2021, and it wasn't on sale then :/
BTW, the Innkeeper's Song just got an audiobook (outside the US), and the US re-release is next month.

Cross-posted to Horror.
Model Home by Rivers Solomon is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Recent release. Was on my wishlist.
Quote:
The three Maxwell siblings keep their distance from the lily-white gated enclave outside Dallas where they grew up. When their family moved there, they were the only Black family in the neighborhood. The neighbors acted nice enough, but right away bad things, scary things—the strange and the unexplainable—began to happen in their house. Maybe it was some cosmic trial, a demonic rite of passage into the upper-middle class. Whatever it was, the Maxwells, steered by their formidable mother, stayed put, unwilling to abandon their home, terrors and trauma be damned.

As adults, the siblings could finally get away from the horrors of home, leaving their parents all alone in the house. But when news of their parents' death arrives, Ezri is forced to return to Texas with their sisters, Eve and Emanuelle, to reckon with their family’s past and present, and to find out what happened while they were away. It was not a “natural” death for their parents . . . but was it supernatural?

Rivers Solomon turns the haunted-house story on its head, unearthing the dark legacies of segregation and racism in the suburban American South. Unbridled, raw, and daring, Model Home is the story of secret histories uncovered, and of a queer family battling for their right to live, grieve, and heal amid the terrors of contemporary American life.
