For what it may be worth, I compared a Clara Colour to a Paperwhite 10th gen. (6" screen and one of the worst Paperwhite screens IMNSHO) both using the font files from the CharInk6 NoWeight.zip file in the first message of the referenced thread. After adjusting the brightness, size, line spacing, etc. to make them look as close as possible, the Clara Colour looked better than the Paperwhite but see the earlier comments about that generation of Paperwhite screen.
How did the comparison go with the lights off?

I have a Kobo Aura H2O which uses a 6.8" screen at 227ppi. The thing is, the size is almost negligible between 6.8" and 7". Also, unless you look that close, the resolution different isn't all that noticeable.

For what it may be worth, the screen resolution of 6" 300DPI Kindles is 1072x1448 while the 6.8" 300DPI Paperwhite is 1246 x 1648. They use the same manufacturer (E Ink Corp.) for the displays.

A 7" 300DPI display is 1264 × 1680 pixels (300 ppi) (Libra 2, Libra Colour, Oasis 3) while a 8" 300DPI display is 1440x1920 (Sage).
