How to redock windows in Wayland?

I accidentally undocked an editor window and now I can't redock it. Looking at the forums, suggestions seem to be double-clicking the title (which just maximizes/restores the window), or clicking some icon next to min/max/close buttons (which isn't there). Is there any way of redocking the windows short of starting X11 session? Most distros default to Wayland these days and I'm not even sure if X11 support is actually installed...

EDIT: X11 support was installed and I was able to use that to fix the editor. Still curious about if it's the only way to redock windows?

Wayland ought to have a beta warning. It's hardly compatible with many things. Don't use it.

You'd be best to uninstall Wayland forever.

What they said

Did you try dragging the detached window close to the edge of the main window where you want it, viz:

The blue area is the drop zone.

Tried that and didn't get any results, the windows had no interaction with the main window. But starting X11 session enabled me to get the windows docked again. I've been using Wayland since switching to Debian in January, and this is the first time I've had any issues with it, which is why it took a while for me to figure out.

Debian is fine without Wayland. Mate desktop is good. Even on Raspberry Pi I had to use other distros than Rasperian. I forget which one I settled with, but it has Mate.

That issue with Wayland and docking windows was supposed to be fixed in the QT 6.7 release and is supposed to be fixed in the current 6.7.1 release.

And FWIW, Qt 6.7.2 was just publicly released with even more wayland and other fixes. Quite stable so far.

Last I tested Qt 6.7 on Wayland, there were severe repaint issues with parts of windows not getting repainted until a resize/move/manual update under various less popular wayland compositors, such as sway. That was with 6.7.1.

It would be a lot easier to pretend Wayland didn't exist.

So, why don't you? . . . Pretend Wayland doesn't exist. There's not much call for blacksmiths these days anyway.

There is here. Farriers anyway. Loads of horses.

I'm not sure why a Windows user cares about Wayland vs X?
