I don't care. The word "nuggs" being voiced is like ice pick in my eye. And people all over are adopting the word when referring to chicken-based chicken nuggets as well. Hence my rant.

Not my day today.

First this morning I was adjusting the blinds and the plastic thingy at the end of the cord broke off. No biggie; I ordered a new one plus spares (because you know if you have spares you'll never need them).

This afternoon the garden furniture was delivered. According to my sister it would all be delivered put together. Not. First I went to put together the dining table. The holes in the legs don't match the holes in the top. Contacted the store, sent pictures and made an appointment for the 29th for their service person to come by.

Then on to the sofa, only two legs in the middle needed to be put on, no problem. What was a problem was getting the three seater out of the box. It wasn't heavy, but very big with all kinds of packaging. But I managed (don't I always?)

Finally the small table. Again the legs and a wooden frame needed to be attached to the top. And if I put everything together the hole of the last leg doesn't match the hole in the top. I think the solution is to sand/shave of a bit of wood of the leg. But since the store is already sending someone for the other table they can fix the small table then, too.

This store got glowing reviews on various websites (according to my sister). So I'm just assuming it's a freak accident that two of their tables are giving me problems.

My back hurts and I got various new bruises. I've just taken a shower and already put on my pajamas (it isn't even 5.30 pm yet). I'm now going to have the dinner I planned for later this week (cheeses, bread, vegetables and dips) because I think I deserve it after today. I'm going to drink something boozy and I'm going to watch something fun on TV.

I cut myself with scissors. Some people just can't be trusted with sharp tools.

Still, it beats hitting one's leg with an axe, as my uncle once did.

That was fun yesterday.

Earlier this week they started work on a nearby section of highway. From Monday morning until Thursday 9pm some/most lanes are closed and from 9pm Thursday until 5am on Monday it's fully closed. Add to that there are several other road (partial) closures (both on local and highways) in the region. Yesterday was the first Friday the road was closed, it was raining all day and with one week left of the summer vacation you get a lot of traffic.

Around 11.30 I went to the tram stop, which is next to a road leading to the said highway and there was a long traffic jam. When I got back two hours later it was even worse, with people blocking both the T crossing for cars and cars blocking the pedestrian crossing. On the local facebook page people were uploading pictures and films showing the chaos throughout the town. With cars driving over cycle lanes and going through cycle tunnels. There was a lot more traffic in the neighbourhood, with cars driving too fast and honking at other road users.

The chaos made national news. Some people were stuck in traffic for up to eight hours. The council deployed people to help get traffic moving again/get people to behave. Around 9.30pm it was reported that everything was back to normal, but there was a lot of neighbourhood traffic until 11pm.

These roadworks are going to take until the end of September and there are five weeks of weekend closures. The council will meet up with the agency that has planned the road works on Monday to "evaluate" the problems and to see if they can come up with a solution. Since it's already predicted that as the summer vacation is at an end it will get worse every weekend.

I had planned to get my TV installed on Friday the 30th, but I think I'll request it for the 2nd instead, because if they don't find a solution for the traffic jams they won't be able to reach my neighbourhood I'm afraid.
