I have access to it, but so far, symptoms are pretty mild. Will ask my PCP and/or the pharmacist. Either one can prescribe up here.

ETA: Pharmacist ordering it S/B here tomorrow afternoon. Biggest concern so far is that it's bumped my B/P up some 25 points. And I have a frog where I used to have a voice.

I hope you'll be OK. My wife had covid not that long ago and it really did a job on her. She's over it and has no lasting effects.

Last time I had covid It wasn't too bad overall. But I've had it before. No lasting effects.

Never took Paxalovid and I'd gotten over covid three times.

And I suspect that you were vaccinated. The current COVID variant is hitting quite a few people in this area but for most, as a mild case.

Hoping it'll stay mild.

I'm currently doing a test (so far it's negative). My sister had a cold the last couple of days and tested negative. I assume she infected me so I'm not too worried. But better safe than sorry.

I've never had Covid, I don't know how I managed that, working in the store throughout the pandemic (yes we took precautions, but still).

When I got sick in 2022, I applied but never heard back - my province makes it damned impossible to get the stuff unless you fall under very narrow criteria.

Both my wife and I get the vaccine.

The first time she had Covid, I called the paramedics and she almost went to the hospital.

Me neither. At least one challenge trial has discovered some people have 'natural' immunity. I've never had the 'flu either… nor any adverse reaction to any vaccine.

New Zealand did the opposite, doctors were allowed to give 'back-pocket scrips' to the elderly, diabetics, immunocompromised etc.

Well, in this province (BC), pharmacists, nurse practitioners, or doctors can prescribe it, but there are limitations on who they can prescribe it to. I qualify, and the pharmacist ordered it for this afternoon, but I think I'm going to call and cancel it. The cost to me is zero, but the medication is very expensive to the Province and I don't think I'm going to need it. I'm still testing positive, but that line is really faint and I'm already starting to feel better.

Sue had a life-insurance policy with the beneficiary being her Mother. Her mother pre-deceased Sue (February 2023 vs November 2023).

Have been working with the financial advisor who sold Sue the policy, and finally a month or so ago, we'd completed the paper work to the insurance company. Of course, Sue had never changed her name on the policy after marriage, so it was still in her maiden name.

Finally a cheque was written by the insurance company and sent to me as the trustee of Sue's estate. Of course, they put the wrong address on the letter (147 some-street, and not 141 some-street). When we checked with the people at 147 they had seen nothing.

The financial advisor had already been in touch with the insurance company which was how we learnt of the wrong address. They told her they would cancel the cheque and re-issue one to the correct address.

Last Friday I was at a friend's cottage and had a voice-mail and text from the advisor letting me know the envelope was at a post-office branch near me and I should pick it up.

Monday I went to the post-office and found out they'd had that envelope for a few weeks and were about to return it to the insurance company since it had not been picked up!

Luckily I was able to get it (and NO; I'd never received any notification of a pending delivery).

I got in touch with the FA and this morning learnt that the cheque was still valid; they had NOT cancelled the original cheque.

I went to the bank where I have an Estate Account only to learn they could not pay the cheque in... Why? It was marked as payable to "MY NAME AS ESTATE TRUSTEE OF THE ESTATE OF WIFE'S MAIDEN NAME"...

Of course as a result of the house fire I have no record of her maiden name / married name.

I have now ordered a copy of our marriage certificate, and have let the FA know we can either wait for that or request a new cheque payable to "WIFE'S MARRIED NAME (NE MAIDEN NAME)" which luckily they should be aware of as various forms I had supplied to them included both names.

SIGH

Pleased to say I got the copies of the marriage certificate yesterday, and have been to the bank, who besides having challenges due to CloudStrike; accepted the documentation and deposited the cheque.

Good luck! I've had several family members who've had COVID. Two took paxlovid and said it seemed to help, but it is very expensive, even after their insurance kicked in.

So far I've dodged that bullet.
