Where is my corrected ebook?
Hello.
I've got a big problem, and one, so big, if i can't solve that, i'll stop using calibre, i have enough. I have corrected an ebook of mine, which took me about 8 hours total, and everytime i saved, it acutally saved everything. but after 8 hours of work, finally finished, i tried to export it again to a new folder, opened it, and every error i corrected was just gone. all my work is just gone, and the corrected file is nowhere to find. what am i gonna do now? I'm sorry, by the way, i'm german, and right now really pissed, so my english might not be that good at the moment... |

What did you use to 'Correct' the book.
The Editor Edits the Library copy (assumes you did a normal 'save' before you exited the Editor. If you did a Save As..., That is where you chose (which might be the last used place. Open the Editor from the Start Menu: File: Recently opened should have it listed near the top |

Yes, i edited in the standard calibre editor, where you edit html and css stuff aswell, and yes, i just did a normal safe everytime, a few times, on different days. everything was fine. then i exported it to a new ebook file in a different folder, and suddelny everything was gone.
you can't tell me i safed wrong or stuff, the things i changed have been saved. why isn't calibre able to export the file i worked from, the file i saved. i haven't been told that i had to "save as" or else just saving wouldn't haved worked either. the filer isn't under recently used files. |

Have you tried searching for the file using your OS file manager?
How were you doing the save in the editor, if it was with a keyboard shortcut… which shortcut? That's the default setup, my 'production' setup has the Save a copy shortcuts set to None, when I can I always remove shortcuts for actions I rarely use. BR |

If you open the original file, from before the export, are your edits still there?
How did you "export to a different folder"? Which option did you use, and did you do that from Calibre library of from the Calibre Editor? |

It may be related to the location of the book

I am not a native English speaker either, I cannot be certain of the specific situation you described. The following two situations: 1.If you change the text or layout in the book, you can check if other replies have answers that can help you. 2.If you use it for reading and marking, you need to check the format of your e-book. Books in EPUB format, the tags you make will be moved together with the books to other directories. Books in azw3 and Mobi formats will not. Because the repair cost is very high. If you are in this situation, you can move the book to its original position, then you can see the markings you made. I hope it will be useful to you and can reduce your losses. |
