Indexing

I have just got my Kobo BW and am really impressed with it

I've transferred around 130 epubs to it using Calibre (which converted them to kepubs). Vast majority are fiction novels of 300-600 pages

I can't seem to work out if it is still indexing or not. There is no 'processing' message I could see as a previous user here helpfully suggested would appear. And - unlike kindles - I can't search for a word in any book in the library to check. I can only search titles, authors etc

Is there any way to know if there is an issue with indexing other than monitoring battery life?

Kobos don't index like Kindles do. To search for a word in a book, you'll need to open that book. You can't search text across your whole library on a Kobo.

There is no indexing. That's only a Kindle thing. Kobo's finish all the the new book intake during the black screen progress bar when you first disconnect.

Thanks. But is there any way to check if all the books are indexed other than opening every single book and searching for a word?

Though Calibre is great for that and more powerful than the Kindle search. FTS is separate from regular Calibre search.

I am very impressed with it. The book management is much better than on kindles (i.e. the ability to sideload from Calibre and keep collections and series) and it seems quicker than my paperwhite 10th edition

I had bought it mainly to read library books on but I actually think it is a complete replacement for my kindle. It's the first time I've had an e-reader with a warm light too and I like that. I don't have it on very high but just enough to take the edge of the blueness.

I'll probably keep the Kindle as a backup device

And if you ever decide to use the PW4, you'll really dislike the screen when you see if compared to the Clara BW. The PW4 screen is a disaster. They took the PW3 screen, move up the layers to make the screen flush and took away the clarity.

However, the covers still need to populate.

I prefer Kobo's method over Kindle's.
