Thank you to the mods of this forum for saving me $190 on a new e-reader and saving the planet from more e-waste! I don't think I'll be upgrading this bad boy anytime soon as popping the back off is easy, and the SD card and battery are user-replaceable with a little know-how.

I gotta thank everyone involved here as well.
My Kobo Clara HD just came back to life, I used the same original SD card, I guess it was some corrupted file within the configs that caused the issue.

Fortunately I don't need to buy a new e-reader.
