root doubt for boox na3c
Hi, I want to root my boox, my actual build version is:
2024-04-26_16-21_3.5.1_09995231c the version i get from http://data.onyx-international.cn/ap...t%22:%22%22%7D is: 2024-03-27_11-06_3.5.1_575390d56 so my tablet firm is slightly newer. Now my only options is patching the boot image of this older image with magisk, i suppose the kernel is the same as in the newer version, but who knows. The other options are: 1. find my current image inserting more input params in the url ¿? 2. try to fetch the boot partition with edl, I don't know if that is posible with qfil or something like that. Anyone has any recomendation? Thanks |

For me, the easiest would be to pull your boot image with EDL.
We seem to be losing fastboot out of abl so you might want to get proficient with EDL. I'm not sure of the processor on the NoteAir3C. You can look at /proc/cpuinfo or run EDL on it or take it apart! |

Hi renate, thanks for answering.
It's a shame we are losing fastboot with newer versions. So it seems EDL is the way to go, cpuinfo says that is a snapdragon 665. I've never used edl with qualcomm. I can see two edl clients, one is https://github.com/bkerler/edl and the other is https://www.temblast.com/edl.htm I see in other comments that people use the second link that is a windows app. I use linux, and it's difficult for me to find a windows machine, do you know if first link is current enough to support the boox edl? |

The second one is mine, so you know where my preference lies.
The other is fine, is current, just doesn't suit my taste. With either you can skip the Qualcomm loaders and use Zadig to load WinUsb drivers. It's in my instructions. |

I have read the boot_a partition with edl, and patched it with magisk.
Now I want to boot it with fastboot before flashing, but it hangs, as if nothing happens. euge@bolt:~/booxNa3c$ ~/Android/Sdk/platform-tools/fastboot boot magisk_patched-27000_zK0UF.img Sending 'boot.img' (98304 KB) And it stays there forever. If I try to boot with the unpatched version it happens the same. Any clues? |

fastboot is probably (intentionally) broken.
The explixit "boot" command is composed of two operations: download and execute. You'll have to bite the bullet and just write it to the partition with EDL. Make sure that you keep a copy of stock. |
