I may have read Murder Must Advertise, as the blurb seems familiar. Therefore I'll follow the advice to start with Clouds of Witness and skip Whose Body?

Fortunately my libraries seem to have many with no wait.

I agree that you shouldn't start with that, as there are all sorts of issues. But if you fall for the series, eventually you'd want to read it. And by that time, you're hooked.

It improved enough. Not enough to recommend to anyone else, but I'm interested enough to read the next. As with many series, the first is (AFAIR) standalone, but the next volumes form one big story.
