Power-off image sometimes varies on Poke5
On my Poke5, I value seeing one of my very old photos at shutdown.
I notice that pressing the Power-Off button during shutdown occasionally switches from my default Power-Off photo to another. However, this switch is not reproducible. I really value seeing a different photo from time to time. Can anyone reproduce this effect reliably? |

I've noticed some screwiness sometimes.
How/where are you adding your custom images? There is /data/local/assets/images which sometimes replaces /system/media Also, the shutdown images were previously rotated with respect to standby ones. Now /system/media/shutdown-default.png is portrait like /system/standby-x.png But I guess that you're talking specifically about the standby ones? |

Renate, since my Poke5 is not rooted, I cannot access either /data or /system. Unlike my old NST, I see little reason to root.
All my photos are stored on my SD card in: 256GB_Poke5/Pictures/Ian's_Photos. My Power Off (shutdown) photo is set by long-clicking on just one of them. I have copied some of my favorite photo folders to Storage/Screensaver/local. My Sleep (standby) photos cycles from these folders within Storage/Screensaver/local. On Power Off (shutdown), I have been pleasantly surprised by a different screensaver photo a couple of dozen times in the past year. Why? |

Yes, the issue started two or three updates ago.
When I set a picture as the shutdown cover, it stays the same even when I replace the image. The sleep cover only updates if I select an image with a different file name. This prevents KoReader from automatically saving the cover of the current book I'm reading, as it keeps replacing the image without changing the filename. My device also isn't rooted. I've debloated it and keep it offline. |

My chosen, screensaver Power-Off image always appears at shutdown. However, if I press the top button more than once during shutdown, some other photo occasionally replaces it, but this effect is quite unpredictable. As I wish, I can change the chosen photo without issue. My Sleep (standby) photos cycle randomly from several folders, and this effect is predictable. |

Eureka! I can now achieve a random Power-Off photo around 90% of the time, so long as I sleep the Poke5 at least once in the session.
If during shutdown, I press the top button every second, the default photo still appears but is soon replaced by one of my Sleep (standby) photos, seemingly at random. Just what I wanted. |
