For what it may be worth, I compared a Clara Colour to a Paperwhite 10th gen. After adjusting the brightness, size, line spacing, etc. to make them look as close as possible, the Clara Colour looked better than the Paperwhite but see the earlier comments about that generation of Paperwhite screen.
How did the comparison go with the lights off?

I have a Kobo Aura H2O which uses a 6.8" screen at 227ppi. The thing is, the size is almost negligible between 6.8" and 7". Also, unless you look that close, the resolution different isn't all that noticeable.

For what it may be worth, the screen resolution of 6" 300DPI Kindles is 1072x1448 while the 6.8" 300DPI Paperwhite is 1246 x 1648. They use the same manufacturer (E Ink Corp.) for the displays.

A 7" 300DPI display is 1264 × 1680 pixels (300 ppi) (Libra 2, Libra Colour, Oasis 3) while a 8" 300DPI display is 1440x1920 (Sage).

Denodan, first I didn't realize they were different size screens. It would make it tough to get a line-for-line, width-for-width match (using same content). But as they are both 300 dpi, I think you are focusing too much on the resolution. With the adjustments of sideloading fonts, line height, font size, margins, ... would provide a more meaningful comparison. As I always use the front light, I would also try to match lighting.

With images, some scaling may occur. Seeing as your posts/screen captures were text, if the point size was the same no scaling should occur, although there may be rendering differences?

And this is just my opinion. Do what works best for you.

The idea here is to match as close as possible and get photos without any front lighting on.

We already know the Clara Colour has a better font light. The next step is to compare both without the front light.

You did notice that OP in this thread was comparing a Clara Colour to a Paperwhite 11th gen (the 6.8" model)?

I didn't bother to do the comparison with the frontlight off. If somebody here is unaware that without the frontlight, a Kaleido3 ereader has a much darker screen, they've been living under a rock for the last while.

Or, they already know, and just want to regurgitate their opinion, over, and over, and over, ...
