Waiting to get tickets to the 2025 Ghost world tour, in an hour the pre-sale will start. I might even splurge for a VIP ticket.
It's been years since I've been to a concert. Which was Meat Loaf in Amsterdam in 2003. I did buy those tickets online back then. But I can remember a time when concert tickets had to be bought at the post office. They always went on sale on Fridays and there was always a line waiting. Of course, if it was a popular show there was a chance the tickets were sold out before you could get one. A couple of times my parents gave permission to play hooky from school in order to get tickets. Buying online from the comfort of your home is nice, but those Friday mornings were fun, too. |

It reminds me of Black Friday, back in the day. When part of the ritual on Thanksgiving was sitting with all the paper ads and plotting your strategy. When 5 AM was early enough to get to a store that opened at 6 AM, so you'd hang out for an hour with a cup of coffee and chat with the other liners-uppers. Get in the store, grab the precious or two or three, check out before the lines got long and go home and have pie for breakfast. It was fun!

This is NC - you never pack away ALL the tees or ALL the flannel shirts - weather can vary widely in one week. We call it roller coaster weather. |

Organizing and decorating my rooms. Ten days ago our handyman installed the picture rail in my craft/computer room. I finally framed the three poster I had and put the up. I've also organized the shelves above my desk. Which is looking much better, it only misses books, but I'm not sure which books I want on them (I might get a couple of those nice cloth bound Penguin classics of my favourite books).
I've ordered some new frames for a couple of prints I already got and yesterday I treated myself to two Displate metal posters. And I've ordered some accessories for my Ikea Skadis board. I've also organized my blu-ray cupboard in my bedroom. With a bit of creativity the blu-ray player and extension cord now fit better and I've rolled up all the excess cable so it doesn't look like a jungle anymore. Now all that's left is to wait for my orders to come in so I can finish decorating. |

Looking at hotels in Amsterdam in May.
I got a VIP ticket to go see the band Ghost. It starts at 9pm and I'm thinking of booking a hotel instead of trying to get back home on public transport. I would prefer to get a hotel near the venue. But my word, those hotels are expensive, around €300 a night! Amsterdam's metro runs until 30 minutes past midnight. And if the show starts in time it should be finished between 11 and 11.30pm. Although Ghost doesn't have a reputation for starting late things can happen and being on my own I would not like to have to take a taxi or Uber on my own at that time of night. So I'll probably splurge, since there isn't much price difference between the four nearby hotels I'll go for the one closest to the venue. One good thing about my ticket is that it's assigned seating, so I don't have to be at the Ziggo Dome ridiculously early to wait in line and get a good spot. I'm too old to do that anymore. I can go to my hotel to check in after 3pm, have dinner somewhere before making my way to the venue. |

Just back from my postprandial walk. Wow, it's cold out there! And yet. The lights make such a difference. A tiny vent: I hadn't realized that the battery in my LED headlamp was dead. But there's so little traffic in my neighborhood and I was wearing a white jacket, so l risked it.

I too am enjoying the Xmas lights on my evening walks - I can turn off my flashlight for blocks and enjoy the sight. N.B.replace your headlamp with a USB rechargeable unit - I replaced all my battery powered walking lights and just plug them in after every walk. |
