I ended up getting the Walmart+ membership when it was discounted last December and it's a good deal if you shop there regularly. The scan-and-go feature in the app ended up being my favorite feature. I can bag my groceries up as I shop and then checkout only takes seconds. (Unless they've mysteriously closed most of the registers, requiring you and everyone else to wait in line ten minutes. That happened recently.)

They've added a 25% discount at Burger King when making digital orders since last year. I don't live close enough to one (or like enough of their menu) to use that, but it could be a really good bonus. I rarely use the free deliveries (still need a $35 minimum), but when I needed them they really came in handy. Also, often something you order via shipping (free shipping with no minimum order) ends up being delivered from the local store, but treated like shipping so there's no minimum order. The gas discount is good as well, 10 cents off a gallon can really add up.

On the other hand, while I don't watch much TV I did try out the free Paramount+ membership and... they show way, way too many ads. I watched a couple of episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks that are roughly 30 minutes each. There were pre-roll ads, four ad breaks during each episode and attempted post-roll ads that I skipped by exiting out and starting the next episode manually. I don't consider that a benefit and it amazes me anyone would pay for the ad-supported tier of Paramount+ when it's that bad. If your ad tolerance is higher maybe it'll be a good benefit for you, though. Also on that gas discount, I have yet to find a single Exxon or Mobile station in my area that participates. That means I always miss out when they do a promo doubling the gas discount, since the doubling doesn't happen at Murphy stations.

Still, at $49 a year it's a good deal and worth considering. Here's a full list of the benefits it provides.
I also have a $49/year membership; it has a few months to run, and I won't renew. I do not have a nearby Walmart--or a car--so my experience is limited to online shopping. Grocery shopping is hit-or-miss; the prices are better than Amazon Fresh but the fulfillment leaves a lot to be desired. I place my order, and then once the shopper begins shopping, I'm lucky to get half my items and I end up buying from Amazon Fresh anyway. So the price advantage is illusory when Walmart doesn't seem to have good inventory control. A couple of weeks ago, Walmart delivered a grocery order only SEVEN hours late (past 11 p.m.) after telling me the order would instead arrive the next day.

Today I had an enormous hassle when I wanted to return a purchase; Walmart+ membership is supposed to allow me to have an item picked up from my home for free. Except after scheduling my pickup, Walmart instead sent me a FedEx return label and told me I needed to drop off the item at a FedEx location. Which is inconvenient (no car, bulky and awkward item to return). Took three phone calls and about an hour to finally have Walmart decide they could schedule a FedEx pickup.

Say what you will about Amazon, but at least Amazon is mostly efficient. Walmart has been one hassle after another, and the "perks" of Walmart+ have not been worth it.
