Calibre Viewer "recent" list

When you have the viewer open and right click its icon, it shows a "recent" list of books you have opened.

You have the option to "remove from this list" for each individual item. But it seems endless

Is there a way to delete more than one (or the entire list) and is there an option to choose how many books show on that list?

Have searched and can't find an answer. Thanks!

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Do you mean when I right click the icon? It only shows a list of books, "calibre worker process" (which causes a window to flash briefly), and options to pin to taskbar and close all windows (which closes any OPEN windows, but does nothing about the list).

Thanks .

Are you referring to the viewer icon on the Windows taskbar?

AFAIK there's no easy way to clear a specific Windows MRU List. You could hack the registry or use one of the swiss army knife clean up utilities.

I was referring to the Viewer Icon ON THE CALIBRE MENU.

You (and most people) really do not have the skills to be editing the Registry, if it was a Windows Icon. That can cause a lot of grief if done wrong .

Other than create a new user account. Some versions of Windows have removed that from the control panel and you need to use the "net" command in an Administrator's console to create a local user.

Some clean up utilities may remove too much, though 10 years or more since I looked at them.

Edit: see Post 10

If you have Windows 10 Pro, you can turn them all off with the Group Policy Editor, viz:

I've never understood why MS provides a point and click gadget for users of Pro whilst requiring Home users to fart-arse around with the Registry.

Probably that most Pro installations are supposed to be in settings where they are centrally administered? While I made heavy use of Group Policies, they were pushed down from Active Directory. Basically, we could install Windows, push down any applications and hand the computer over to the end user without needing any manual steps other than connecting the computer to AC power and LAN and pushing the power button.

Group Policy Editor is very powerful and can be extended with multiple admin templates but it is not for the faint of heart.

@AlisaP - I've been looking for Most Recently Used List… but I stumbled on something that says they're called Jump Lists You can turn them off in Settings->Personalisation->Start, viz:

There should only be 3 versions of windows. Pro/Stand-alone, Enterprise/remote managed and Server. The Home editions are evilly crippled.

Agreed - 1,000%, I've paid the extra for hard-up friends.
