I don't have screenshots set up. My understanding is that I would no longer be able to use the power button to put the Kobo to sleep.

The only point of the pictures is to show my normal 15 lines per screen, but 16 lines are displayed when the last line has a footnote reference. Were the pictures not clear for that purpose?

EDIT: My Libra 2 has now done this with multiple books with wildly different CSS.

@foosion: what many of us have done is to install NickelMenu and use it to toggle ScreenShots off and on. Also, if you have a sleep cover it will wake / sleep the device even if Screenshots is enabled.

Personally, I use NickelMenu to toggle screenshots off/on, normally leaving them off.

My Kobos live in sleepcovers so I don't use the power button for sleep. OTOH, my Sage does not have easy access to the power button which makes taking a screenshot a bit of a pain while my other Kobos do have power buttons that are accessible while the sleep cover is on.

A simple one line item in my NickelMenu config file which toggles the screenshot setting off/on:
Code:
menu_item : main : Screenshots : nickel_setting : toggle : screenshots

I had NickelMenu for a while, but I wasn't using it so I uninstalled it, although I realize some find it essential. I don't use a sleepcover. Is there some forum rule?

Any ideas about the substance - why a footnote causes an extra line?

You probably missed something in the CSS that is adding a little more padding in some cases that causes line 16 not to fit. In your example, you get 15 lines when there are two paragraphs and 16 lines when there is only one, so it might not be related to the footnote at all; the CSS could have nasty paragraph padding that you missed somewhere.

I've seen 16 lines for text with footnote ref at the bottom in a bunch of books with very different CSS and not not found any nasty footnote related CSS in any of them. I mention issues with two books in this thread - one won't even popup footnotes (both kepub).

The nasty padding would have to be for the footnote books, as 15 lines is the norm for every regular text screen on every book on my Kobo, both those without footnotes and those with footnotes somewhere other than the bottom line. It would have to be CSS that only reduces bottom line margin/padding.

What CSS would only affect the bottom line of a screen of text for a kepub?
