I'm trying to add Word Wise to my ebooks and at the same time get them converted from epub to kepub to my device. The conversion is done automatically by Kobo Touch Extended plugin upon "Send to device".
Since WordDumb depends on its own function to upload the books, Send to device buttons is not used in that case.

How can I overcome that?

When using worddumb(or wordwise) on Kindle, even for the same word, hints may or may not appear depending on its position in the text. What criteria determine whether a hint is displayed? Is it possible to ensure that hints always appear for words within my specified difficulty range, regardless of their position?

German is supported as book language and definition language, more supported languages can be found in the plugin's customize words window and here https://xxyzz.github.io/WordDumb/

No idea how Kindle decides when to show a definition, only EPUB books can guarantee enabled words always display.

I have edited the kll.en.en.klld file to change the word wise hints to Korean. After updating to Kindle Scribe firmware 5.17.1, the Korean font that displays the word wise hints changed. The English font remains the same.
In the case of Paperwhite, there was no change in the word wise Korean font even after updating the firmware to the same version.
The Korean font that is currently displayed is very unreadable, so I want to revert the font to the previous one in recent firmware.
Currently I am using version 5.16.8(I jailbroke my Scribe using Winterbreak and downgraded firmware). The note taking function is improved very much in recent firmware(5.17.2 or 5.17.3). Could there be any way to change the internal fonts that is used to show the word wise hints?

If you already jailbreak, you probably have better chance with koreader... I think it can almost do whatever you want.

I have been using koreader since winterbreak released and my next ereader will very likely be kobo.

I use a Kindle because it supports Word Wise. I replace the short_definition part of the kll.en.en.klld file with my own Korean definitions to create a custom vocabulary list, so that Word Wise displays Korean meanings.
Thanks to your Worddumb, my English book reading has become much more comfortable. It doesn't seem like that's possible on KOReader.

KOReader can also display word hints embedded in the EPUB file using CSS styles, but it seems to lack support for word inflections and flexible database editing.

Starting from firmware 5.16.10.0.1, the Word Wise hint font for Korean has become strange on both the Scribe and Paperwhite. Until that issue is resolved, I plan to stay on 5.16.9.

Generating files for EPUB and Kindle formats are mostly the same, the only difference is how they displayed. You can also edit the db file used to create EPUB file.

Korean Wiktionary's quality is not as good as English Wiktionary but I think it'll still better than editing db file manually.

Does "Korean Wiktionary files" refer to an English-Korean dictionary? I was expecting to find a file similar to 'wiktionary_en_en_v0.db' from the link you provided, but I couldn't find one. (Apologies, I'm a beginner in development and not very familiar with GitHub.)

The way I use Kindle Word Wise is by creating an English-Korean word list with the words I've learned and replacing the English 'short_def' field in the Word Wise database with the corresponding Korean definitions. I wrote a short Python script to automate this process.

After reading your message, I tried modifying the wiktionary_en_en_v0.db file in the similar way and then used WordDumb to convert an EPUB file into a Word Wise-enabled format, and it worked perfectly.

The link I posted is a test version plugin zip file, and it has Korean definition files for many languages so you don't have to modify db files. You can still do that, but now you edit en_ko.db file.

The plugin from the above link works perfectly, allowing Korean Word Wise hints to show smoothly.
One strange thing is that the same EPUB file looks different when opened on the Kindle Paperwhite and the Kindle Scribe, even though they are running the same version of KOReader (2024.11-203).

Each screen has its pros and cons. On the Paperwhite, I like that the line spacing remains consistent whether hints are enabled or not. However, if I reduce the line spacing to a comfortable reading level, the horizontal line below the hints obscures them, and an additional horizontal line appears above the hints.

On the Scribe, the main issue is that the line spacing changes depending on whether hints are enabled. Additionally, even though I enabled the 'Remove Word Wise and X-Ray links underline and color in EPUB books' option, the underlines still appear under each word.

If the line spacing remains consistent, the underline below hints sticks as closely as possible to difficult words, and there is no underline below words with hint, it would be perfect.

Personally, I prefer viewing it with the font scale set to 150%, as shown in the screenshot, where the horizontal line below the hints slightly overlaps with the main text. I followed the instructions in the link below for font editing.
