Then I read A Tale of Comfortable Chairs by Alexander McCall Smith. The 23rd (!) in his No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. More soap opera than mystery now, but quite fun. There looks to be a bit of foreshadowing of future developments. I'll have to wait for later books to see if my guess is right! Next up: The Phantom of the Temple by Rovert Van Gulik. The 13th in his Judge Dee series, set in a mythical China. |

Next up: What If… Wanda Maximoff and Peter Parker Were Siblings by Seanan McGuire. An alternate universe superheroes book. Which I got because of the author. |

They also had a special named What the? where they posit funny ideas. One of them was "What if all of the members of the Avengers remained Avengers? (there were so many members that they couldn't function effectively because they got in each others way). Another one was "What if Wonder Man was a woman?" (it showed a warning letter from their Distinguished Competition). |

Finished a self-published freebie from Prime Reading, A Cat's Guide to Bonding with Dragons by Chris Behrsin.
Fun quick read. Seemed juvenile. Interesting interactions but I'm not sure that is how a cat really thinks. <LOL> The strange actions from the world's rulers and plot holes leave me with D+ two-star rating. Next, another Prime Read, The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. I'm 20% in and it's not working for me so far. |

Next up was Arcanum 101 by Mercedes Lackey and Rosemary Edghill. An OK YA urban fantasy. Then there was The Last Word by Elly Griffiths. More detective fun with Harbinder Kaur. I'm not quite so fond of this as her Brighton Mysteries, but I'll still look out for the next one. Followed by a highlight: Lent by Jo Walton. Th first half is fine, demon excorcism in Mediaeval Italy. The second half is brilliant, and explains the first half. Wonderful stuff from Jo Walton as expected. And I've just finished Storm Warning, Storm Rising and Storm Breaking by Mercedes Lackey. A trilogy in her Valdemar series. Next up: Highway of Eternity by Clifford D. Simak. |

I finished Towles' 'Rules of Civility', which I enjoyed. I wanted something different, so I purchased the last tetraology of the Shannara Series, The Fall of Shannara. I've had so much time invested in that series I thought I'd finish it up.

Now reading the first of the Heirs of Alexandria series The Shadow of the Lion. A multi-author book/series with ML, Eric Flint, and David Freer. I'd read this one many years ago, but somehow never read the later ones. So I'm re-reading the first to catch up with the universe (a magical Venice of the 15th century.) |

I finished that just a few days ago. I struggled a bit with the first half, it felt somewhat belaboured to me, but I really enjoyed where she ended up going with it.

Frontlines series by Marko Kloos. Loving these, especially right after reading similar series with Old Man's War.
Gonna be really sad in 2 more books when I finish this |
