While in theory pulling it from git history is possible, the longer time slips, the harder it will be to find.

I suppose also depends on how large the elided code is.

It can be fixed just as Kobo Metadata was fixed to be able to bypass Cloudflare. But someone has to want to do it and know how to do it. From what I understand, it's not all that easy to do.
