Necessity by Jo Walton is on offer at £2.99 at Amazon UK.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Necessity-N...dp/B0191JTYIY/

This is the third volume in her Thessaly series, a look at what happens when the gods try out Plato's ideals about a Just City.

It was published in 2015, and this is its lowest price since publication.

is the best I can suggest. The the "All Kindle Book Deals" in the Lleft column.

Scarlet by Genevieve Cogman is FREE in the UK (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
Revolution’s a bloodthirsty business . . .

Revolutionary France is no place to be, especially for aristocrat vampires facing the guillotine. But the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel are determined to rescue them. And they have an ace up their sleeve: Eleanor, a lowly maid from an English estate with a striking resemblance to French royalty.

For Eleanor, the League and their legendary deeds are little more than rumour – until she’s drawn into their most dangerous plot yet. The mission? Travel to France in disguise, impersonate Queen Marie Antoinette and rescue the royal family. If they succeed, it’ll be the heist of the century.

But there’s more to fear than ardent Revolutionaries. For Eleanor stumbles across a centuries-old war between vampires and their fiercest enemy. And they’re out for blood . . .

I don't see any left-hand column, just the categories in the top pane and the featured categories. This caused problems when I was trying to look at monthly deals yesterday. I ended up going to https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?i=digital...3017941031_sar and going through all 107 pages looking for SFF (sigh, luckily I don't work on Fridays).

The main one of interest I found was Against a Dark Background by Iain M Banks: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Against-Dar...dp/B002TXZSSK/ (also at Kobo https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/ebook/aga...k-background-1).

To be honest, these days I find it easier to check eReaderIQ for Kindle Deals.

The Sky on Fire by Jenn Lyons is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
This is a standalone in a new setting.
Video review by Bar Cart Bookshelf (who is a fan of the author's previous series).
Quote:
Enter a world ruled by dragons…

The Sky on Fire is a daring new fantasy heist adventure that will thrill fans of Temeraire, Fourth Wing, and Dragonriders of Pern

Anahrod lives only for survival, forging her own way through the harsh jungles of the Deep with her titan drake by her side. Even when an adventuring party saves her from capture by a local warlord, she is eager to return to her solitary life.

But this is no ordinary rescue. It’s Anahrod’s past catching up with her. These cunning misfits—and their frustratingly appealing dragonrider ringleader—intend to spirit her away to the dragon-ruled sky cities, where they need her help to steal from a dragon’s hoard.

There’s only one problem: the hoard in question belongs to the current regent, Neveranimas—and she wants Anahrod dead.

The West Passage by Jared Pechaček is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Was on my wishlist.
Video review by Bar Cart Bookshelf
Quote:
THE LADIES REIGN. THE PALACE ROTS. THE BEAST RISES.

When the Guardian of the West Passage died in her bed, the women of Grey Tower fed her to the crows and went back to their chores. No successor was named as Guardian, no one took up the fallen blade; the West Passage went unguarded.

Now, snow blankets Grey in the height of summer, foretelling the coming of the Beast. The too-young Mother of Grey House and the Guardian's unnamed squire set out to save their people.

Their narrow shoulders bear a heavy burden. Before them lies the West Passage, home to horrors and delights that defy imagining. None can say if they'll reach their destinations, but one thing is for sure: the world is about to change.

One of the recommended books is Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. I've not yet read it. But I have read Gideon the Ninth and I found to to be very good.

BTW Tamsyn Muir has a great short story (novelette?) published by Amazon: Undercover. It's free for Prime users, or $1. And you get a free audiobook.
