By comparison, the Libra 2 battery says the rated voltage is 3.7V and the charging limit voltage is 4.2V. Rated capacity is min 1420mAH, typical 1500mAH.
So if Kobo came out with a Libra BW using this battery, you would have a really nice improvement in battery life compared to the Libra 2. (Providing any speed upgrades to the CPU didn't use a significantly higher amount of power.)

It does look like either the new Kobo allow for calibration of the screen or 4.39 allows it on all Kobo. We won't know until the older Kibo get 4.39 or 5.

Even if we only got a small battery improvement that would be OK especially with the faster speed. I'd be up for it easily.

As far as I can tell from various press releases, the MediaTek MT8113 dual-core CPUs used in the Elipsa 2E, Libra Colour & Clara Colour are slightly more power efficient than the single core Freescale iMX 6 CPUs used in many other of Kobo's ereaders.

it's that it is not worse, as was claimed by the person I was replying to.

Biggest jump (without touch or light) was Viziplex to Pearl. Pearl with no layers is nearly as good as Carta with extra layers for capacitive touch and lightpipe.
I will say I'm still able to easily read on my old Nook STwG, which uses a Pearl screen with light layer.

I'm not crazy enough to claim that they are equal. But the screen is still serviceable to me.
