Is there a way to enable 'usb tethering' on boox max?

Is there a way to enable 'usb tethering' on boox max, so that one can VNC over usb?
vnc client is on max and vnc server is the laptop [windows 10 x64 pro].
This is very helpful in a place without wifi. Would love to suggest to developpers that , this should be a system option in the settings menu in the next firmware.

Upgrading to firmware 1.8.1 fixed the issue where USB debugging wasn't connecting.

Perhaps I am wrong, but I seem to recall I read somewhere that rooting max 3 as explained here
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=323254
should allow to enable USB tethering.

I am in the process of trying... I do see the option installing the indicated app, but it still cannot be activated.

Even better than VNC, I would like to try Anydesk ( https://anydesk.com/it ) which is free, works with windows and linux, and supports touch interface.
For the time being I am using spacedesk (https://www.spacedesk.net/) which is free, supports natively USB connection and touch interface. I read in many places that superdisplay also supporting USB and touch should provide lower latency than spacedesk, but it is not free, and when I tried on boox poke4lite, I was not able to visualize correctly the windows (still mouse cursor latency seemed fast!).
