I have created a wiki page for your product. MobiScribe. You can add more data if you wish.

A few questions:

How are you dealing with Google?. I mean e-ink devices don't pass the Compatibility Test Suite and that means they can't be accesing privative google services, like the Playstore. Are you going to spoof a device fingerprint from another manufacturer like Boyue is doing?.

How are you dealing with your customers? Do you release the source code for the parts that are GPL? Do you include acknowledge of 3rd party software used by your program like Apache, BSD and MIT licenses require?

How are you dealing with developers? Do you plan to release an SDK for third parties in order to take advantages of the device (eink refresh, wacom stylus...)?

Are you going to sell in America/Europe? FCC?

I did a bit of research and it seems to me yet another Netronix copycat. (Netronix designs, assembles, develop software) and the retailer just label the device within a new brand. These kind of products are the most common nowadays. Most of them are based on IP thief of common software (FBReader or Artifex MuPDF). It should be easy to solve all these issues just by complying with software licenses.

Thanks for your time

Thank you so much!

As soon as my edition of MobiScribe User Manual will be accepted, I will add it in some form (full or in excerpts).

I play with MobiScribe Notepad about two weeks now, it looks like a streamlined clone of this Netronix reader.

My take on it, it's a good e-ink sketching device with an additional e-reading function. I'm in a position to find a simple drawing app for it.

Me, I'm just a localization specialist, licensing problems are beyond my scope. There's no Google Play Market in the product and never promised, that's as far as I know.

I looked at the temporary manual and it specifically said that APK apps should be used and then suggests a couple. It is a pretty old Android 4.4.2 according to that manual.

Correct. I also can't say anything about plans to go Android 5+ way, or passing CTS. Maybe, for some other markets/localizations.

Reading the FAQs I found
Quote:
Most E-Book apps are compatible: Including Moon+, scribd, kindle, fbreader, adobe digitial editions (access google play library) etc...
That specific phrase: "access google play library" triggered all the alarms for me. And the fact that they recommended a smelly store like APKPure doesn't help.

I think once they don't pursue CTS compliance they are quite free to recommend apk repositories of any sort of odor.

I'm preparing a list of apps that might be useful for the device: fineoils.blogspot.com (if I may)

Better would be to put them in our wiki.

I noticed you are posting color images. Does this reader support color? If this reader does not support color so these images are not meaningful. The full blogspot url is http://fineoils.blogspot.com/2019/08...l?view=sidebar for those who are interested. If color is supported then this is the number one feature for the device.

o

I will, eventually. The apps or their versions that I'm playing with right now are hardly adapted
to be used on e-ink screen. Also, many apps of interest won't install in MobiScribe.

As of now, I'd put AIreader and KOreader as candidates for alternative reader apps.

No drawing alternative to Notes, yet.

I don't know Chinese to talk to TeamUC developers directly.

Screen is e-ink with no color, but whatever color attributes of icons, pictures, book elements are present they are preserved on screenshots. So, say, copy of initially color comic book taken from Mobiscribe will retain original colors and show them on color screen.

then technically they are not screen shots since screen shots should display exactly what you see on the screen in exactly the same number of pixels as shown on the screen. It would be nice to see some of these images exactly as they are shown on the screen. Capturing a picture of the source image is not the definition of a screen shot. I would not put anything like these images in your manual.
