Can bright spots/light pinholes pixels degenerate into larger areas?

I recently got a Boox Tab Ultra where I noticed in the middle of the screen a "light pinholes" (dead pixel) and some inverted pixels. From your experience, over time these defects can expand on the display and become bigger "holes"?

Usually the bigger problem is creeping rot from the edges.
That is usually due to mechanical failure.

I've been fortunate with a half dozen Eink devices to have never seen a dead pixel.

It's like that other post.
It's true of LCD and Eink panels.
Dropping a device starts the process of delaminating the layers in the panel at an edge.
I can't say whether it's corrosion of the transparent electrodes or simply propagation of the delamination.
Over time it will usually get worse.

I believe dead pixels are more statistical.
Lone pixels won't infect their neighbors.
