I have no idea what Love Story you are referring to. Romance is such a broad genre it includes everything from inspiration to erotic romance. Not all romances have sex in them. There is something for everyone no matter your tastes. |

Young Adult, in most bookshops and libraries, is broken down into similar genres as the adult (non-sexual) books. You'll typically have a non-fiction section (sometimes this will be broken down further into biography, health, self improvement, etc), general fiction, romance, and adventure (fantasy/sci-fi). I'm sure there are places that offer even more catagorization than this for YA.

Its horrible. Just horrible. Both book and movie. It is most definitely not a genre romance. Yikes. That one and Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve, worst movies I ever watched and never want to see again.

I doubt that as well since MR is a forum for people with ereaders, so of course the forum will draw an unusually larger and disproportionate number of readers to skew those generic stats. Any specialized forum will have the same results. I'll admit I quit reading for a few years because I didn't enjoy it as much with the tiny print when my already poor eyesight got older. Ereaders let me go back to reading as much as I want. Being able to adjust the font size and darkness is the biggest perk for me to use ereaders. Which is why I hate the locked down Kindle, you can't darken the fonts at all or change them to something you prefer in their locked down system. Edit: I should add that I stick to pretty much only mystery, thrillers, horror novels, can't remember if I've ever read a romance book other than a couple of Daphne du Maurier titles 30+ years ago. As an over-45 woman who is not a fan of romance books, I agree 100% here. I like ebooks because I can chang the font size. I read the same kind of thing I read before I was 45.

It's just another flavour of sexism. Related, but not the same, as people trying to describe a typical ignorant tech user as "your mom" "your grandma", or "your old aunt". |
