A Cozy Mystery has a Non-Professional doing the detective work (snooping )

Mystery is any who did it (a crime) Murder sure tops the list in my book.

Miss Marple qualifies. So does 'Murder, she wrote', for instance. Midsomer Murders and Death in Paradise don't, because the sleuths there aren't amateurs (although they do fit the other qualifications).

Gritty and Noir are sort of distant cousins and can be quite different. Certainly Noir can be a big distance from Cosy, but it's a more a style than indication of content.

It's weird all these cosy (murder) mysteries with contemporary fantasy witches and such.

This crap, all from the under $5 section on Kobo. I'm very unlikely to click through if I don't get an idea what the damn book is about.

Yes, it is.
I'm sick of all those sites that waste my bandwidth (and time) to send the whole text of something and then they fade it away after the first sentence with a perky "Read more!"

If you can't tell me what the book is about, in the first few sentences, then I likely won't like it and will not waste my time.

I’m right with you. I will read more only if the first blurb catches my interest.

Agreed. I suspect they do it for the same reason salesmen were once told to get the customer to say "yes" to a few innocuous questions as a way to prime them to say "yes" to the big question. I'll bet if you click on "Read more" you will be more likely to take the next step and click on "Buy now."

Just yesterday I saw the first book in a series was $1 on Amazon. I clicked what I thought was the button to show me the rest of the series, but instead it purchased all the books as a one-click purchase.

Reguardless of how easy it is to click on read more, I don't think those review bits should be part of the book's description.
