What is the best image size for covers/thumbnails?

I like all of my thumbnails in cover view to be the same size and I'd like the covers used in sleep mode to look nice (not stretched or distorted). What would be the best image size for that (for use with the cover plugin in Calibre)?

The resolution of the Aura screen is 1024 x 758. That is probably the best size if you are only worried about the Aura. But, screen resolution will only go up and you have a lot of other devices. I recommend using the best image you can find. Then you can:

- Make sure the cover page is correctly displaying the cover image as large as it can without distorting the image. The calibre options to insert the cover in an epub should do this.

- Send the covers to the device with the books. This is done with options in the KoboTouch driver. Selecting the "Keep aspect ratio" option will put the cover on the device without distorting it.

There is no best size but images should never be smaller than the height of the screen. The reader is capable to scale larger images to fit the screen.

If you prefer a cover that looks not distorted then use a image that matches the 3:4 dimensions of the screen otherwise you'll end up with white bars to the left and right of the image.
