It seems like every month the voting decisions become harder. I was probably most cheering on the Maugham biography but I would've been happy with any of these winning. Of the ones that were in the lead the winner is the one I know least about so I'm looking forward to it. I'll have the discussion thread up within a day.
Ditto! ETA - Discussion thread up here. Last edited by sun surfer; 09-08-2014 at 05:36 PM. |

Thanks for the welcome back all. Good selection this month and I am looking forward to the discussion. It will be interesting to compare this account to that of The Last Manchu by Henry Pu Yi that I read a while back, |

I'm looking forward to this as I picked it up some time ago, but I'm going to be bringing up the rear in the discussion. I was blindsided by a detached retina this week and can't quite focus (literally or figuratively) on reading yet.

Dear issybird, very sorry to hear of this and can only imagine how difficult it is to focus, both figuratively and literally. Please let us know periodically how you are getting along.

Issybird, sorry to hear of your eye issue. I hope that this can be corrected soon. This book club would lose so much with any restriction on your participation.
