I hope everyone that celebrated had a very Merry Christmas. It's been okay here. I got a Kobo HD Glo and case for Christmas which I just am enjoying so much! I just finished my first book on it.

I read For Christmas, Forever by Ruth Wind. It was okay... nice fast paced story so 3 stars.

The Kobo screen background is just so clean even with the light on low. I can't get over how clean it is making reading on it a joy for me. I keep the light on 6% non of my Kindles except for the K3 had a even background but the HD Glo is better in background but my K3 has better contrast. The high 300PPI makes up for all that and the ability to add weight to any font I want.

Hubby was let go of his job three days before Christmas. They had told him the week before he was being moved to warehouse and would get a $2 raise then later they said his contract was up which is wasn't not till January 5th and that there was no full time positions open so they let him go. That put a huge damper on everything because we were required to buy gifts for all my family which pretty much took any extra we had. We were smart to open a savings and put back a little each paycheck which will cover January's rent but any extra went on gifts to ungrateful people with the exception of my mom and sis who we always buy for. Sometimes I really hate being back here.

Anyways I have read 10 books this year including the one I just finished. Such a small number for me. No book buying but I still have my Harlequin free code I've not used.

Me too. They just declared a state of emergency here but we are okay. Our parking lot is full of mud but we live on a high hill which is the one of the reason I chose this place. Mom and Sis are flooded in one way but there is a way out still and they also live on a hill. I'm still checking Facebook for my family who lives in St Charles county which is the hardest hit. It hasn't stopped raining since Christmas night.

I did enjoy Secret Sisters, though the story was quite different from what I'd imagined from the blurb. My only issue was I wanted more of the secondary romance.

Nora Robert's Circle trilogy has been sitting in my print TBR since it's release. I've started book one multiple times, but it remains unfinished. I also bought them in digital. I'll no doubt read the Circle trilogy eventually just to reach the point where I have read all of her books. It's not like I never read any vampire books, there were a lot in the late 80s/early 90s. I just don't enjoy them. I don't know, I can't even nowadays for favorite authors. I did read Merline Lovelace's Christmas novella from a few years back, but it was short.

And I don't think I could read only the non-vampire books in the Guild Hunter series since the vampires as a whole are so integrated into the world Nalini created. I know a bit about the series from the various Q&A's Nalini has done and I like discussing books in general with reader friends. So I didn't feel lost at all reading Archanel's Enigma even though I am usually a read-in-order type of person. I also enjoyed the story with the homeless girl in the last newsletter, which is what gave me the idea to read this particular book. Plus I wanted the answer about Nassir I just don't have any desire to go back and read the first 7 books and novellas or to continue with the rest of the series, though I may follow along just from friends who read it.

Her new newsletter I think is out tomorrow. I'll be at the hospital all morning with my mom as she's having surgery, but maybe I'll try to read the promised short story while I'm waiting.

The rain finally stopped! People are still sandbagging as fast as they can due to how river flooding works. They expect the Rivers to crest by January 7 so they say Arnold which is about 12 minutes from me is going to be hit the hardest with record flooding due to the Mississippi backing up to the Meramac River. It's not going to be bad as 93 everywhere else which is a relief but for those in the flooded area that doesn't really matter. We are suppose to get Snow here today and tomorrow.

I just finished reading Christmas at Harrington's by Melody Carlson not really a romance but I'm back to enjoying reading thanks to my Kobo HD Glo.
