Fantasy woman author who draws her own book covers

I read, on mobileread, about a woman who writes Fantasy, who has a trilogy out which I want to buy, preferably, on Amazon. I don't remember in what thread did she (I don't know any of the names) was discussed. But now that I've sorted out my Calibre issues, I'd like to purchase her books.

The author came highly praised and any link to the proper thread or any mention of her name and her work here would be fine. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure and I can't find the original thread, but I think it is this one. It was not my cup of tea. link to amazon

Ursula Le Guin was one of the best Fantasy and SF writers.

It's very rare for someone to be a really good writer and an artist. Also cover art is a very specialist area of art involving graphic design. The four excellent artists I know won't even contemplate trying!

When I will have read it, I'll PM you, Quoth or just post here. I happen to think that the Fantasy genre is the most difficult to do covers for. The easiest IMHO is the cosy genre.

I have to disagree. I really dislike Le Guin's books.

Have got and sideloaded the book in question. Will read it over the weekend. I hope it's not Fantasy the way the YA or NA authors treat the genre.

Not one of my favorites. Won't be pursuing the series, after I DNfed this one. For me, it's a rubbish Fantasy book, with lots of dubious ideas. And it's not even original in a bad way.

Janny Wurts has also done her own covers. (I'm not sure if she does the covers of the new ebooks.) You can see examples here, and I attempted to attach one as well:

She is married to artist Don Maitz. They are still offering a reward for artwork stolen from a World Fantasy Convention in Baltimore, MD years ago.
