I had some kind of laser surgery in my late teens - I don't remember what exactly it was, but the goal was to slow down my rampaging nearsightedness, which had gotten pretty bad by then. As far I can tell, it worked for the most part - my eyesight more or less stabilized after that.

They don't do LASIK or its equivalent to me - I've been to a consultation about it. My nearsightedness is too advanced for laser surgery to have a significant positive effect - I would still have to wear glasses, at least for some activities, and the negative effects would outweigh the positive ones. The doctor said I would not be satisfied with the result, so there's no point in spending money on the procedure. I can see reasonably well with my glasses.
