Well, getting Snow Leopard up and running I couldn't get Calibre to work under any circumstance (rosetta or otherwise) but I found a workaround.
Essentially, I installed Linux Mint in VirtualBox as a virtual machine and installed Calibre through it. I couldn't get the folder sharing to work so I'm switching back and forth between them with a thumb drive but it works.
