Robert Michael Ballantyne (1825–1894)
“The Big Otter” (1887)
An adventure story set in Canada. The eponymous “Big Otter” is actually a heroic Indian chief. The tale features stereotypical Englishmen, Scots and French Canadians, plus noble savages and lost maidens.
The conversion was inspired by all the otter-related talk in the Lounge. I have added a cover featuring an otter. The source of the text was Project Gutenberg.
